About Me

Brad and I are so excited to be welcoming Baby Oz October 26th, 2012. This year we will be celebrating our 3rd anniversary as a family of 3. We have no idea what to expect on this journey to parenthood, but look forward to sharing as we go. I look forward to having this blog as a way to look back on all the exciting things happening this year. My friend Ashley's sister did this and i think it is a great alternative to posting everything on facebook...not everyone needs to see/read all that! Please, feel free to read and comment as we go. We haven't done this before, so any advice/ tips are welcome! Thanks =)

Why I Run...

So if you follow me on facebook or this blog you already know i have become a running nut! I used to hate to run -despised it! Today i have completed 2 full and 2 half marathons and have no intention of stopping there. I would however stopped at one if it were not for a little girl that i know. A friend and co-worker of Brad's from college has the most adorable little girl who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. When i heard the news it hit home harder than anything - i remember being pregnant at the same time as Laura and watching her FB posts to see what i had coming the next month. I continued to follow the pictures and pictures of her adorable little girl, Aniston, and secretly envied all of the cute outfit and bows that she would dress her up in. This little girl was always dressed so cute - i can't even tell you! She was just a few months older than Max and it crushed me to see such a little girl going through this rough battle. From day one their family was strong, although i don't know how they did it. They were a brand new family of 4 living in a hospital fighting a tough battle. I immediately think - what can i do to help!?!?! I prayed and prayed but new i could do more! I decided to use my running as my platform to raise money for this young family and decided to do another marathon! I jumped right into training, knowing i had a half coming up i felt like i was in a good place to sign up for a full in the spring. I created my page and began my campaign -SLOW! It was slow to start so i thought ok to get this going i am going to switch to a full! If this little girl can do chemo and fight, then i can run a full. So i did - it wasn't my best time but i got a jump start and got the word out about this sweet girl. I had not trained like i should have and she was literally the only thing that got me through. If you have not checked out my go fund me page - please do! Please read and follow this little girls story, if you can make a donation to this amazing cause!!!
